Film Society Reception

The Shepherdstown Film Society announces its spring 2020 season, in partnership with Shepherd University’s Scarborough Society. The movies listed below will be screened on Fridays at 7 PM in Shepherd University’s Reynolds Hall. Foreign language films are in the original language with English subtitles. Closed captions or subtitles are also used for English language films, when available. All films are followed by a post-film discussion. Admission is FREE!!

January 24th “Thunder Road” (2018; not rated) by Jim Cummings; 92 min. Discussion led by Jean Anne Pugh.
(preceded by opening reception at War Memorial Building at 5:30 PM)

February 7th “Requiem for a Running Back” (2016; not rated) by Rebecca Carpenter; 89 min. Presented in conjunction with Shepherd University’s Common Reading Program. Discussion led by Dr. Stacey Kendig.

February 21st “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am” (2019; PG-13) by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders; 120 min.
Discussion led by Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic.

March 6th “Maiden” (2019; PG) by Alex Holmes; 97 min.
Discussion led by Bill Neufeld and Ksusha Lowry-Neufeld.

March 13th. “Kedi” (2016; not rated) by Ceyda Torun, in Turkish; 79 min. Discussion led by Dr. Rachel Krantz.

April 24th. “Across the Universe” (2007; PG-13) by Julie Taymor; 133 min. Discussion led by Dr. Marty Amerikaner.

The Shepherdstown Film Society is a coalition of interested individuals and organizations dedicated to bringing more quality films to Shepherdstown. The spring film series is made possible through a partnership with Shepherd University’s Scarborough Society.
