July Newsletter: August Dinner, Labor Day, Book Sale

TUESDAY AUGUST 18 AT THE WAR MEMORIAL BUILDING (102 E. German St.) * THE SCC INVITES YOU TO A DINNER AND PROGRAM FEATURING:

LOCAL HISTORIAN JIM SURKAMP (www.justjefferson.com) AND SINGER/ACTRESS ARDYTH GILBERTSON
                THE CIVIL WAR AT MORGAN’S GROVE: in songs and readings

The dinner ($20) starts at 6:30 and the program will end at 9. Following hors d’oeuvres, we will serve grilled chicken strips, fettuccine Alfredo, steamed broccoli & carrots, and dessert. (prepared on the day with fresh ingredients by a SCC Board member)

FEATURING WHAT HAS NOW BECOME A LABOR DAY TRADITION FOR THE SCC PICNIC:

THE ROHRERSVILLE CORNET BAND

Founded in 1837, the Rohrersville Cornet Band ( www.rohrersvilleband.com) is the oldest continuous brass band in the state of Maryland. Those who have heard them at the SCC’s previous Labor Day picnics know what joy they bring to the day, and if you have not heard them before it is an event not to be missed. We look forward to seeing you at the picnic.

Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and Beverages sold by the SCC * Please bring a dish to share, esp. desserts & salads.
